To give our story the treatment it truly deserves, we’de need a couple of props: a large family photograph album and a world atlas. The album would have pictures dating from the present day all the way back to our founder Charles Taylor over 130 years ago. And the atlas would have many dog-eared pages, including those featuring Brazil, Colombia, Ethiopia, Java and Rwanda. Because our tale is both a local and a global one. Though still a Yorkshire family business, that family’s now an extended one, and includes honorary members – farmers and their relatives – whose welfare and livelihood matter dearly to us.
This is more than just a checklist for the way we do business. It’s the way we think; it’s second nature to us. So it’s hard for us to believe that there is any other way of working. It means the people at the distant, overseas end of our supply chain are treated with the same respect that they would be if they were farming here in North Yorkshire and it means doing as much as we can to protect their livelihoods and the environment.
Delicious, convenient and individually-wrapped, hospitality professionals should pay close attention to our coffee bags which are perfect for hotel rooms, travel, conferencing and workplaces. They work just like a tea bag, but contain 100% roast and ground coffee and take just two minutes to brew – all you need is a kettle!
